What is a Cloud ERP

ERP is an acronym that stands for enterprise resource planning (ERP). It’s a business process management software that manages and integrates a company’s financials, supply chain, operations, commerce, reporting, manufacturing, and human resource activities. Most companies have some form of finance and operational system in place but most of the software that’s out there can’t go beyond everyday business processes or help with future business growth.

As company’s needs change and they expand, their systems should keep up with them. We’ll define what ERP is and why it’s smart to have software in place that keeps up with your business needs.

Cloud is the Trend, Cloud is the way forward, Oracle NetSuite being the first True Cloud ERP in the world, has all in built functions out of the box like a legacy ERP, and also it is very easy to integrate any third party systems with NetSuite via NetSuite APIs. the more detailed comparison between a True cloud ERP and Hybrid/Legacy ERP is mentioned below.

4 Pillars of a successful ERP Implementation

01

Strategy

Figure out your business strategy before you invest in anything. Leaders who aim to enhance organizational performance through the use of digital technologies often have a specific tool in mind. “Our organization needs a machine learning strategy,” “Cloud ERP” perhaps.

02

Solutions

Choose the right solution partner. There is no single formula that helps you achieve your goals. Every business is different and unique, thus choosing a right solution expert is one of the most critical aspect in your digital transformation Journey.

03

Recognize

Recognize employees’ fear of being replaced and educate them that DT is, instead, going to help them. If the employees perceive that digital transformation could threaten their jobs, going to double their work, and difficult to learn new systems etc.

04

Change Management

Change Management, Commitment, Collaboration and Efficient Project Management: Businesses need to adopt to change, all the key personnel should be encouraged to change the way they practice, Industry best practices should be implemented.

Drawbacks of a Fake Cloud (Hosted) Solution

  • 1. Delayed and painful product upgrades :

When an on-premise solution is hosted by others, you still have to suffer through the same potentially arduous (and expensive) upgrades every time the software vendor releases a new version of its product.

  • 2. Costly, unstable integrations and customizations :

Integrating a hosted solution with your other applications, either on-premise or cloud, causes considerable hassle and expense and can be unstable because the on-premise product was not initially built for hosting and therefore not intended to be integrated while being hosted

  • 3. Too much downtime and inadequate security and support :

Given their limited headcount and resources, most VARs and service providers simply cannot achieve the same levels of security, privacy, and uptime as true cloud providers can.

  • 4. Concern about financial viability of hosting firm :

You also have to worry about whether the VAR or service provider will stay in business as long as you need them.  What if they fail? You will need to scramble to find another hosting vendor and move your solution safely, risk losing access to your data, or build the in-house IT infrastructure required from scratch.

  • 5. Need to overbuy/overprovision capacity :

If you're uncertain of how much capacity you'll need, you'll probably have to over-buy the number of software licenses to ensure you're not caught short; or, worse yet, you under-provision and can't live up to your SLAs with your customers because you "failed" to plan ahead.

Where Fake Cloud Vendors Fail, True Cloud Providers Excel

  • 1. You don't have to endure painful upgrades.

. With true cloud providers, you are regularly and transparently being upgraded to receive the latest innovations and benefits. Because of this, you know you're always running on the latest version of the software and your customizations automatically move over to the latest solution.

  • 2. You get more reliable, secure, and speedy access to your systems anytime, anywhere.

Cloud solutions are built to give your team access to systems from any place with web access and their infrastructure is built to provide almost 100 percent guaranteed uptime with fast performance and advanced data privacy protections.

  • 3. You can easily integrate with other applications.

. True cloud ERP solutions can be easily integrated with both cloud and on-premise solutions.

  • 4. You service yourself.

You can manage, configure, customize, and maintain cloud applications immediately. No need to hire expensive consultants every time you want to make a change to your application.

  • 5. You get more value for money.

A cloud vendor can achieve substantially better economies of scale and pass the savings onto you.
